The problem
The pond was losing water faster than the top-up could keep pace with. Two previous attempts at sealing it — [what was tried before, if known] — had each lasted less than a season.
Water features are unforgiving. The structure moves with temperature, the water is always in contact with the surface, and any coating that is brushed or rolled on has laps and pinholes. Freeze-thaw finds every one of them.
What we did
- Drained and cleaned the feature, and removed the previous failed coatings entirely.
- Filled and profiled the cracks and cold joints in the concrete shell.
- Detailed the inlet, outlet and overflow penetrations — the usual leak points.
- Spray-applied a seamless polyurea liner over the whole shell in one pass, taking it up and over the top edge so there is no termination below the waterline.
- Refilled and monitored the level to confirm the leak was gone.
The result
A single continuous liner with no seams, no laps and nothing for water to get behind. The feature holds its level, and the polyurea flexes with the concrete instead of cracking away from it.
Because polyurea is trafficable within minutes of spraying, the pond was refilled [timeframe to confirm] rather than waiting days for a cure.
